Free to Be

We are all free to be who God created us to be. How do you find this out? How do you know what you were born to do?

Every morning you wake up you are being told what to listen to what to pay particular attention to. You are being told what to wear, what not to wear, who to date, who not to date including How to lose a guy in 10 days. The messages include when and who to marry, who is not a great catch and who you should avoid. What is even better and stranger than fiction for me, is being told why you do what you do, by someone who only read about this or studied about it.

Most research gets ideas based on  recurring patterns.  Evidence based. Trouble is any pattern can change any time.  What is normal for some is abnormal for others. I do my best not to believe everything I hear.

Proverbs puts it this way, the simple man believes everything, but a prudent man carefully considers his ways Prov 14:15

This ties in well with this other Proverb  A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it. Prov 22:3

I am certain we are free to make our own choices, to ask the tough questions and refuse to be simple, and suffer for it. Knowledge empowers you and me.  The more you know about a situation or what you are going through, the more courageous we become about life and the way we do life.  Free to be you.

Life is about rediscovering who you already are.  Just like its impossible to be humble unless you understand the greatness inside of you.  Therefore on purpose I learnt not to listen to all the information coming at me from 100 different directions.  Carefully filtering information that enters my mind empowers me to be who God created me to be. It’s a choice.  What I hear and then keep in my heart is what becomes my reality and my world.

Do this little exercise for a moment. Observe what you are thinking about on purpose, by intention. Then listen to what you talk about the most, and who you spend the most time with, what they talk about the most.  This is the clue to what defines your reality. If the mind is fed continually with useless information that is what it will produce and life can seem like its going in circles, or having  the same pattern the same problems.  If you never get to hear you are free to be you, but you keep hearing who is celebrated, (the celebrity culture), you can find yourself esteeming others too highly and making yourself seem insignificant.

Truth is everyone is great at something(s).  What comes to you naturally? What do you love to do in your spare time?  Could you take time to explore what you are passionate about?

So true! People are so afraid to be who they really are – especially if they are “people pleasers” and afraid of being criticized or letting other down. The only one we truly have to please is our Lord. Honor Him and he’ll honor you, giving you the right words and actions for the times you’re going through.

Excellent and thought provoking post here. Great job!
